Archive:2018 Mobile Testing Survey Privacy Statement

From Wikimedia Foundation Governance Wiki

This statement describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants.

Please note that the take-home portion of this survey is powered by Google Forms, which means Google's use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. In-person tests may be recorded using Reflector 3; Reflector's use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Purpose of Survey

We appreciate your feedback! This survey will allow us to test out new features in our apps and mobile website, and gather feedback on how to improve them.

What Information We Collect

This survey collects the responses you provide to the questions asked. For in-person interviews, your answers will take the form of verbal responses. For the take-home survey, there are two types of answers: defined responses, and free-form responses.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

The results of this survey will be shared publicly in the following manner.

For in-person tests, we will record your screen to observe your use of the Wikimedia mobile apps and mobile website. Clips from these recordings may be published on meta.wikimedia.org. If you do not want your recording to be posted publicly, you can choose to have your recording only shared with the Wikimedia Foundation staff who need to access it.

From the take-home survey, aggregate data about the defined-response questions, and a sample of anonymous raw answers to the free-form response questions, will be published on meta.wikimedia.org. For that reason, we strongly suggest that you do not provide your real name, username, email address, or other personal information in response to any questions.

Full recordings of in-person tests and raw data from the take-home survey will only be shared with the Wikimedia staff who need to process this information and are subject to non-disclosure obligations, with the exception of the circumstances described below.

We may disclose any collected information when required by law, when we have your permission, when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, users, or the general public, and when necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or any other Wikimedia policy.

Licensing of Survey Responses

By participating in the in-person test or answering the free-form response questions, you agree that we may record your answers, and agree to donate them to the public domain under the terms of Creative Commons Zero 1.0 (full text available at creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/).
