Welcome

Three Pilots Updates
Kaarel Vaidla, Lead Movement Process Architect provided an overview of the most recent work of the Movement Ecosystem pilot. A small focus group has been convened comprising sixteen participants from across the movement who are working on a proposal, which will be completed in February. This will build on the paper that was already published.
Jorge Vargas, Senior Director of Community Resources and Partnerships, provided an overview of the interim Global Resource Distribution Committee, which is a high-level decision-making community-wide committee. In the first year of the pilot, the GRDC will focus on reviewing and consolidating the funding principles that will guide Wikimedia grant-making, developing the first draft of a resource allocation strategy based on the principles and community feedback and designing and implementing a plan to gather input and feedback from stakeholders. The GRDC plans to present a draft version of the Resource Distribution Strategy and strategic goals at Wikimania 2026 after a period of community feedback.
State of the Communities
Victoria Doronina and Maciej Nadzikiewicz, the Community and Affiliate Board Liaisons, with Mayur मयूर, Senior Director, Movement Communications, shared examples of community engagement since August 2025 and plans for future engagement. The Board then broke into two breakout sessions to have smaller conversations focused on the Wikimedia Foundation work with the volunteer community and Foundation’s support of volunteers encountering legal challenges.
The Board met briefly in Executive Session.
