This statement describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants.

Please note that this survey is powered by Qualtrics, which means Qualtrics' use of your information is governed by their Privacy Statement and Terms of Service.

Purpose of Survey

We appreciate your participation! This survey will help us learn about the experiences of organizers in the Wikimedia movement. It will also help us find participants for follow-up conversations on the same topic later this year.

What Information We Collect

This survey collects the free-form responses you provide to the questions asked. If you are interested in participating in future research on this topic, you may choose to provide your name and contact information as well.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Some of the results of this survey will be shared publicly, for the purpose of open analysis, research, and study, in the following manner. Anonymous quotes from or summaries of responses will be published on meta.wikimedia.org. If you choose to provide us with your name and contact information, that information will not be made public.

The raw data collected will only be shared with the Wikimedia staff who need to process this information, whom are subject to non-disclosure obligations. The following exceptions also apply.

We may disclose any collected information when required by law, when we have your permission, when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, users, or the general public, and when necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or any other Wikimedia policy.

Licensing of Survey Responses

By answering the questions, you agree that we may record your answers, and agree to donate them to the public domain.

Wikimedia Foundation is a global organization committed to promoting free and open knowledge. If you take this survey, you understand that the information transferred to Wikimedia Foundation will be collected, transferred, stored, processed, disclosed and otherwise used in the U.S. as described in this Privacy Statement. You also understand that the information may be transferred by us from the U.S. to other countries, which may have different or less stringent data protection laws than your country, in order to carry out the aforementioned purposes and objectives.

Wikimedia understands the importance of user privacy. For this reason, we work to protect our users from the unauthorized disclosure or use of information we maintain. The results of this survey will be anonymized or aggregated within 90 days, with the exception of the provided contact information, which we will use to contact you about future research opportunities as explained above.
