Adding wording to the Wikimedia Foundation FSP around virtual events

We are discussing some changes to this policy on meta between June 30 and July 15, 2020. Please join in! --Rfarrand (WMF) (talk) 21:26, 1 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

This discussion has just concluded and the policy has been updated based on the results. Rfarrand (WMF) (talk) 19:30, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Applicability

It is made clear more than once in this policy statement, that it shall be in effect for all venues and events to which it applies. The only possible reason to include such a clause is that there are (or can be) venues and events to which the policy does not apply.

But there's no information, not even a link, for people to actually find out which venues and events will be covered and which ones won't. They shouldn't be scanning the table of contents trying to guess where to find that information. TooManyFingers (talk) 23:49, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I believe the definition given in the intro-banner is intended to help people understand the scope ("This policy applies to Foundation activities, including events it hosts and events it funds or supports with other resources."). If you have questions about a particular event, I recommend talking to the event's organizers. -- Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 19:25, 12 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
