From Wikimedia Foundation Governance Wiki

This statement describes how and when the Wikimedia Foundation ("we", "our") collects, uses, and shares the information we receive through this survey. Please note that this survey is administered by Qualtrics, which means Qualtrics' use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Purpose of the Survey

We are always looking to improve user experience so that the Wikimedia projects are useful to you. This survey will help us understand how and why users use the portal found at wikipedia.org.

What Information We Collect

This survey collects the responses you provide to the questions asked, and if you choose to provide them, your name and email address. The information described in this section shall be referred to as "collected information". All collected information may be retained indefinitely. See our data retention guidelines for more information.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Your name and email address, if you choose to provide it, will only be shared with Wikimedia Foundation staff and contractors subject to the exceptions below. Your answers to the survey questions may be published publicly or shared with any party in anonymous or aggregated form.

Additionally, we may disclose any collected information when required by law; when we have your permission; when it has been made public through no wrongdoing on our part; when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, users, or the general public; when needed for our service providers to provide their services to us or for us to use their goods or services; and when necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or any other Wikimedia policy.

Important Information

The Wikimedia Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, California. By participating in this survey (whether inside or outside of the U.S.), you agree to the collection, transfer, storage, processing, disclosure, and other uses of the collected information in the United States and other places as may be necessary to carry out the purposes and objectives discussed above. You also consent to the transfer of your information by us from the U.S. to other countries, which may have different or less stringent data protection laws than your country, in connection with providing services to you.

We do not change our behavior in response to a web browser's "do not track" signal.

Please note that in the event of any differences in meaning or interpretation between the original English version of this privacy statement and a translation, the original English version takes precedence.

Thank you for participating in this survey and helping us make Wikipedia better!
