This statement describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants.
Please note that these surveys are powered by Google Forms, which means Google's use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Also note that the Wikimania Speaker Series 2021 includes an option to join an associated Telegram group, and your participation in the Telegram group means your information you provide to Telegram is governed by their Policy Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Purpose of Survey
We appreciate your feedback! The Wikimania 2021 Speaker Onboarding Series is designed to help participants practice public speaking skills.
The survey asks you questions about your interest in joining the Wikimania Speaker Series and questions about your experience with public speaking. The Community Development team will review survey responses to understand the level of experience participants have with public speaking and interest in partaking in the Series.
What Information We Collect
These surveys collect the responses you provide to the questions asked. There are two types of answers: defined responses and free-form responses.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
The results of the Wikimania 2021 Speaker Onboarding Series survey will not be shared publicly. Participants can indicate on the survey interest in attending a live session introduction to the Speaker Onboarding Series, which will be recorded. The recording will be edited to exclude participant interactions and then will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Participation in the live session is optional and governed by the Wikimania 2021 Speaker Onboarding Series release form, which will be sent to those who indicate on the survey interest in attending one of the live sessions.
We may disclose any collected information when required by law, when we have your permission, when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, users, or the general public, and when necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or any other Wikimedia policy.
Important Information
Wikimedia Foundation is a global organization committed to promoting free and open knowledge. In submitting your response, you understand that the information transferred to Wikimedia Foundation will be collected, transferred, stored, processed, disclosed and otherwise used in the U.S. as described in this Privacy Statement. You also understand that the information may be transferred by us from the U.S. to other countries, which may have different or less stringent data protection laws than your country, in order to carry out the aforementioned purposes and objectives.
Wikimedia understands the importance of user privacy. For this reason, we work to protect our users from the unauthorized disclosure or use of information we maintain. The raw data collected in these surveys will be deleted, de-identified, or aggregated within 90 days. See our data retention guidelines for more information.
