Excellent to see a first stab at this. I do suspect a wiki is not the best tool for managing it, though, at least not without extensions. This could be an opportunity to test drive Semantic MediaWiki, which would allow the automatic generation of a table from individual pages classified as "tasks".--Eloquence 19:10, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

We in Canada are looking at creating some. --Jmh649 (talk) 14:12, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, please do. :-) --MZMcBride (talk) 16:46, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

WMF-only scope is too narrowed

This page seems to focus in volunteering opportunities related to the Wikimedia Foundation only. This is too narrowed. Yes, we have the link to Our projects but there aren't many calls specific to volunteering there.

See the real email we've got:

About finding the volunteering opportunities, here's what I did:
1. I went to the home page: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Home
On the left panel, there's a 'Volunteering' under 'Support'. There's
no other entry mentioning 'volunteer'.

2. After I clicked this link, it takes me to:
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Volunteer_opportunities
On this page under 'In San Francisco':

   - (There are no local volunteer positions available at this time)

3. I looked at 'Around the Globe', none of what's mentioned is what I want
to do (translator, editor, or photographer).

Are there other places/pages which I can take a look to explore any
volunteering opportunities?

Here's how the page looked in December 2012 (before you came along).
Here's how the page looks today.
I think we're on the right track. :-) --MZMcBride (talk) 23:36, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

MediaWiki and WikiVoyage logos are missing

As reported at Template talk:OurProjects2006. Mentioning it here just in case nobody watches that page.--Qgil (talk) 18:37, 28 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

This page is using {{OurProjects-multi}} these days, so that old template shouldn't matter much. I'll see about killing that template completely. --MZMcBride (talk) 23:39, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

All volunteering pages outdated?

After going through some pages under Category:Volunteering it seems that all of them are outdated. Should we simply delete them?--Qgil (talk) 18:40, 28 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why do we need to do anything to them? They are historical pages, and should be kept. Rjd0060 (talk) 18:45, 28 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
It'd probably be nice to explicitly mark old posts as historical, then. For example, Volunteering:Email response statistician almost looks current, until you notice at the very bottom that it was posted in 2009. We can do better, I think. --MZMcBride (talk) 23:41, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
+1, can we polish up the language on Template:Historical first though? Thehelpfulone 23:46, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
What's wrong with the current language and why would you need to wait to use the template? --MZMcBride (talk) 20:53, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
