Resolutions Future Wikimedia Foundation funding of the Wikimedia Endowment Feedback?
The Future Wikimedia Foundation funding of the Wikimedia Endowment was approved by the Board of Trustees on June 12, 2018

Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation ("WMF"), since the establishment of the Endowment, has contributed US$5 million in each of FY 2015-2016 and FY 2016-2017; and

Whereas, the Board of Trustees remains committed to growing the Endowment and considers this to be a priority for the future health and well-being of WMF and the projects it supports; and

Whereas, the Board of Trustees understands, acknowledges and has been supportive of the fact that Endowment funding goals toward which staff and the Advisory Board to the Endowment are working rely upon significant contributions from WMF, as well as from other donors; and

Whereas, in determining to make contributions to the Endowment the Board has in each case used its discretion and considered factors that may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the amount of the contribution to the Endowment that was budgeted in the current fiscal year Annual Plan, as approved by the Board; the presence of matching gifts or challenges; revenues raised in the fiscal year at issue, as well as projected revenues for the pending fiscal year; WMF operational needs and priorities; programmatic ratios; level of reserves; and goals for growing the Endowment, as well as any other relevant factors;

Now, therefore, it is:

Resolved, the Wikimedia Board of Trustees approves the process of determining, at its sole discretion and in each fiscal year, whether, how often and at what level(s) WMF shall make contributions to the Endowment.
