It is a good idea to show where the message is to be translated. But if I open a link such as beside Wikimedia Endowment leading to -> https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:Translate&showMessage=wikimedia-taglines-endowment&group=ext-wikimediamessages&filter=&optional=1&action=translate&language=en then I get an error because the msg is already in EN to be translated in EN (...?).
So if you know the language of the user (ex: FR) rather use :
https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:Translate&showMessage=wikimedia-taglines-endowment&group=ext-wikimediamessages&filter=&optional=1&action=translate&language=fr
If you dont know the language of the user, omit it; then it will be the language the user uses in translatewiki.net, surely different from EN :
https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:Translate&showMessage=wikimedia-taglines-endowment&group=ext-wikimediamessages&filter=&optional=1&action=translate

- @Wladek92: Thank you for pointing this out! I was not aware of this fallback feature. I have gone ahead and updated the links here and where I could find them on Meta-Wiki. Please feel free to ping me if you find any lingering ones. Thank you! --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 19:24, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
