About me
I spent the first decade of my life in southern Taiwan before moving to California. Prior to joining Wikimedia, I was actively involved in teaching, group facilitation, project/program design, and community-building; I also have a background in various forms of multimedia, including web design, graphic design, and video production. I hold a degree in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley. I am a social scientist at heart, with particular interest in workplace interactions, labor relations, organizational cultures, and urban planning.
My work
I joined the Wikimedia Foundation in June 2010 as part of the Public Policy Initiative pilot, in which I recruited and worked with U.S. professors interested in assigning students to edit Wikipedia as coursework, and developed various resources to support these professors and students (most notably the volunteer-based Wikipedia Ambassador program). Now, as the Global Education Program Manager, I strategize and facilitate the expansion of Wikipedia's use as a teaching tool to other parts of the world - including Canada, India, and the Arabic-speaking region - while further building the organizational capacity of the Wikipedia Ambassador program as a whole.
