Faidon Liambotis
About me
I enjoy the bridging of network, system & software engineering work and finding opportunities to collaborate with similarly-spirited people; I have been utilizing those skills in the technical infrastructure sector for more than a decade. I am passionate about the free software, free culture and, lately, digital rights/privacy movements and I have a long history of involvement in the free software community.
I am Greek and live in Athens, Greece where I was also born and raised. My name is the Latin transliteration of the ancient Greek name Φαίδων and can be pronounced as /féðon/.
My work
I have been a member of Wikimedia Foundation's Technical Operations team since March 2012. I work on making all of Wikimedia's sites reliable, scalable, secure and performant for more than 500 million users as well as featureful in collaboration with software engineering teams, all in a manner consistent with Wikimedia Foundation's guiding principles.
