Pete Forsyth has been a Wikimedian since 2006. He began writing Wikipedia articles as a volunteer in 2006, focusing on the history of his home state of Oregon. He helped found WikiProject Oregon, a dynamic group of Wikipedians which coordinates collaborative projects and coordinates with local institutions. He works as a consultant, helping organizations integrate their work with Wikimedia's mission and projects.

Pete served as the Wikimedia Foundation’s first Public Outreach Officer from 2009 to 2011, engaging the vast network of Wikimedia volunteers and supporters to improve the experience of new project contributors. He was a key architect of the Wikipedia Public Policy Initiative, a pilot project promoting collaboration among university professors, students, and Wikipedians, and the development of best practices in using Wikipedia as a teaching tool in higher education.

Pete has a BA in Philosophy, with a thesis on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, from Reed College.
