Disclaimer text
Hey! So, I talked with Philippe about incorporating this template onto my WMF user page, and I am getting a box of text which I can't understand where it comes from:
"My work on this username is typically in my capacity as an employee, but that rarely means that it's not reversible. If it's an official action it will be clearly labeled (and please do not revert without discussing it with me in that case). Unless otherwise stated, any edit to this wiki by me is an act of a regular member of the community, not a legal or official action of the Wikimedia Foundation"
I am totally fine with it being there, but I just don't understand where it's coming from! I'm updating in my Sandbox. Jwild (talk) 18:39, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Amendment: I see that it is coming from the template, but I just want to confirm this is something we all should have on our staff profiles :) Thanks! Jwild (talk) 18:40, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Jessie, yes I believe so, as it was Philippe who added that paragraph to the template. The Helpful One 20:15, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- On a technical level, it comes from you setting |organization = Wikimedia Foundation. That disclaimer wouldn't be output if you set organization (or company) as something else. --MZMcBride (talk) 23:15, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- I was bold and put the disclaimer into a conditional structure. It's nice to have a default disclaimer, but it's even nicer to keep some flexibility here, for people who already have a disclaimer approved that better suits their situation. guillom (talk) 16:59, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
