A most useful page
On revisiting this page, I was just reminded what a handy model it is. Thank you. SJ + 21:11, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
2 edit requests
Hello, I have 2 edit requests if anybody can edit it!
1. In § About the Wikipedia identity, please change
The puzzle globe typically accompanies the Wikipedia wordmark, originally set in Hoefler, but
recentlyupdated to Linux Libertine, an opensource typeface, to facilitate easier localization of the wordmark in new language editions of the project. Together, we refer to this as the unified mark.

due to being a very relative term
2. Change the blue color of the headings to black, as they look too much like links QuickQuokka (talk) 17:39, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
Done (but changed to green, to keep the visual distinction that I believe was intended). Thanks! Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 23:20, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi both. It is fine to use the black here. Changed to black and thanks for the headsup. --Selsharbaty (WMF) (talk) 13:42, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
Clarification needed: Wikimedia Foundation icon used for less than the minimum sizes?
My question refers to this guideline, in § 14:
In cases where representation of Wikipedia is necessary at less than the minimum sizes, the Wikipedia 'W' mark should be used. In cases where representation of Wikimedia or the Wikimedia Foundation is necessary, the red/green/blue icon should be used.
Assuming the red/green/blue icon mentioned is:
File:Wikimedia-logo.svg.
- Suggestion: to include it in the gallery of logos/icons in the guideline with the name 'red/green/blue icon' in an appropriate place.
- Clarification needed: Can the 'red/green/blue icon' be supplemented instead for
File:Wikimedia-logo black.svg? If so, clarification regarding the guidelines on choosing between the two is needed.
Thanks for your help. Waddie96 (talk) 16:15, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Waddie96, thanks so much for your suggestions. They are both great additions to the guidelines and we are looking into them. I will update you once the changes have been made. Thanks, again! SManivannan-WMF (talk) 20:57, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- Good day @SManivannan-WMF! Hope you well? Any timeline on this? Maybe a phab task?
- Also, I had a look and some adjustments could be made. Waddie96 (talk) 19:29, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Waddie96, thank you for following up and apologies for the delay—I was trying to align with the team internally before proceeding. I finally have an update for you! The guidelines emphasize the single-colour version of the Wikimedia logo (black or white) as it is most adaptable and is legible across various backgrounds and colours, making it more functional than the red/green/blue logo. Many community members and affiliates use the red/green/blue logo based on their preference and needs and can continue to do so, but the Brand team encourages using the single-colour logo wherever possible for visual effectiveness. Thank you, again, for your suggestions and for starting this conversation—as next steps, I will be modifying the guidelines on the page to reflect the guidance on the use of the single-colour logo above and to avoid confusion in the future. - Hey @SManivannan-WMF, thanks for the clarification. One very small thing: with the recent edits, the text now uses two different varieties of English: "color" for most of it, but "colour" in that section. Should something be done about this? Thank you. Aaron Liu (talk) 20:19, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Now fixed to use a consistent spelling of 'color'. Cheers. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 23:29, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
